Angel was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) in 2006. We discovered in utero his congenital heart defect. Finding out prior to his birth allowed us to seek intervention early on and prepare (the best we could) for his birth. At 3 weeks, we learned he also had a very large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and his TOF was complicated by Multiple Aorta-Pulmonary Collateral Arteries (MAPCA); furthermore, he had an incomplete main Pulmonary Valve.

After 2 very difficult open heart surgeries in Phoenix, we decided to ask for a 2 nd opinion which Angel’s team readily agreed to. In 2009 Angel flow to Massachusetts to meet with the cardiology team at Boston Children’s Hospital. Their Cardiac Catheterization department was finally able to work on Angel’s MAPCA arteries and begin fixing his heart. Angel would go on to have an additional 4 more open heart surgeries at Boston Childrens.

Angel continues to do well in school, enjoys digital animation, drawing and hanging out with his brothers watching Anime. He is the best big brother to his little sister and brags that he was the one to name her, MaryAnne. One glance at Angel’s smile tells you everything you need to know;

God is good!
